To all the ordinary men who did extraordinary things,
To all the men who came overseas to give us back our freedom,

To all the brave men who fought to liberate mankind from
the iron grips of madness and tyrrany
To a whole generation who did so much sacrifices to allow us
to live in a free world,

THANK YOU veterans

Pilsen Liberation Festival from May 1, to May 6, 2015 is the annual celebration of the end of World War II and the liberation of Pilsen by the United States Army. Every year thousands of visitors flock from all over the world to the western Bohemian city of Pilsen for the first days of May to join American veterans and military history fans to remember the events associated with the joyful atmosphere marking the end of the ravages of war. Also included are staged scenes from the daily life of soldiers and inhabitants of the Protectorate and a splendid accompanying program. Include, as in previous years, is a parade of historic vehicles through the center of town, with the streets lined with thousands of enthusiastic spectators.
The people of the Czech Republic have never forgotten.

Sixteen million Americans served in World War II. In 2015, only about 3 million of those veterans are still alive, and every day we lose about 1,200 veterans. In another five to ten years, nearly all World War II veterans will be gone. To meet men like this is to understand why events turned out the way they did 70 years ago.
